Hello Prapanna,
Thanks for having raised this issue again. It was there bugging me in the back of mind and I too wanted to do something about it.
Moreover, if one reads the fine print posted by iPetitions, one realizes that this has legal implications too.
The views expressed in this petition are solely those of the petition's sponsor and do not in any way reflect the views of iPetitions. iPetitions is solely a provider of technical services to the petition sponsor and cannot be held liable for any damages or injury or other harm arising from this petition. In the event no adequate sponsor is named, iPetitions will consider the individual account holder with which the petition was created as the lawful sponsor.
So this is serious indeed, because these initiatives against the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust can certainly help its enemies in some form of hostile legal action. And we need to disassociate ourselves from such initiatives.
As you will soon find out in my next e-mail, there are some elements that are against the Ashram establishment, and they are using every possible means to launch attacks on the Ashram. These people rely on the “ignorance” of well-meaning people and create controversies where there are actually none. Peter Hees was an easy target as he already has a lot of “enemies” out here. But Peter Hees only presented an opportunity to these elements, but he is not the only one....
Best Wishes,
Filio
Hello Arpit,
I am glad that Prapanna has raised this important issue, because this is more serious than it appears.
Maybe it is time for the members of the SAICE Yahoo Group to also know that selective messages (of course only those criticizing Peter Hees’s book) that were posted ON the SAICE Yahoo Group, were printed out and submitted to various Government officials such as the Lt. Governor in Pondy, the Home Ministry in Delhi, etc.
And this was done by people who are members of the SAICE Yahoo Group. Is this ethical?
Does this explain why some particular individuals were very systematically posting anti Peter Hees messages in a forum that carries the SAICE “label”?
As long as views and opinions are circulated personally, they have no or little value. But when a message carries the SAICE label, it becomes valuable.
It is evident that the SAICE label lends credibility and some people are unscrupulously using the name of the SAICE Yahoo Group to promote their personal views and agendas. There is already a precedent (that failed!), isn’t it?
I have also heard about the wish expressed by some anti-ashram/anti-trustee elements to fuel an “uprising” of the students/ex-students against the trustees to have them thrown out. The SAICE label again is very handy for such elements.
So let’s see if those who are members of this Yahoo Group and have misused the SAICE Yahoo Group are cowards if not hypocrites.
If not let them come forward and reveal themselves.
Moreover, some members of this Yahoo Group have signed the iPetition, and they must surely know who created it. I see Sachidanands’s name right on top in position number 1 together with Anada Reddy in position 7.
As “responsible” persons I don’t think that they would sign an internet petition of this nature without knowing who created it? Maybe they can help us here?
Best Wishes,
Filio
