FYI, I enclose below the weekend workshop title/description which Esalen Institute has invited me to do next Spring. This workshop will be formally posted on Esalen's website and listed in their 2006 Catalog in December. It reflects a personal sense of urgency to bridge from words and concepts to actions ("And God shall grow up while the wise men talk and sleep") — to heal our disconnects and the tendency toward "spiritual bypass", integrating evolutionary vision with evolutionary practice, in effect, applying Sri Aurobindo's Yoga in the criticality and convergence of 21st Century realities.

Onward,

~Savitra

Evolutionary Activism and the Mutation of Consciousness

Presented by: Savitra (Alan Sasha Lithman)

Can we resolve the unprecedented complexity of crises we face through areturn to past wisdoms? Or are these accelerating crisesthe evolutionary catalysts challenging the absolutes of our spiritual and scientific traditions, pressing us toward a mutation of consciousness? If these crises are in fact the terrestrial labor pains preceding the birth of a new principle of being, then we are the first sufficiently self-aware species to consciously participate in its own mutation. But how to proceed? How do we develop the evolutionary skills to de-traumatize the transition, discovering a more trustworthy inner compass than ego to guide us through the turmoil ahead? This workshop will address these questions, helping participants learn to think in evolutionary terms and timeframes so we can better prepare ourselves and our systems to handle the intensities of the transformational process; become more effective agents for change at the personal, cultural, ecological and cellular levels, integrating mysticism and activism. Through a series of experiential exercises, we will explore concepts such as "evolutionary triage", "changing our genetic psychology", "Love as Healer", "phased metamorphosis" and "evolutionary activism". This process is designed to help participants identify practical strategies for personal/collective transformation; build community from the group of participants to demonstrate the critical role of Community and Compassion in our future unfolding.
