Since Merra Nanda raised the idea of Post Modernism undermining the Enlightenment, the article here is a great summary of challenges and champions of the Enlightenment project, in the work of Juergen Habermas, who is a battle weary champion of it; of course the challenge comes from Derrida, Lyotard, Foucault, and all those other French "terrorists."

Meera Nanda has an interesting arugument in this article (which for many reasons I don't really agree with).
