View Article  June 18 and June 19, 2005 - Workshop on Creativity and Yoga
On June 18 (Saturday) and June 19 (Sunday), the Sri Aurobindo Center of Los Angeles held a two-day workshop on Creativity and The Integral Yoga. The workshop was offered by Aster Patel who was visiting from the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry and Auroville, India.
 
Additionally, on Saturday, June 18, as part of the Creativity workshop, there was also a video screening of a documentray on the Negro Arts Festival at Senegal in the 1966 by William Greaves, a disciple of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother from New York and a celebrated documentary producer and director. The screening was followed by a question and answer session with William Greaves.

On March 5, 2005, there was a book signing event at the Center. Anie Nunnally introduced her newly published book of interviews with twelve senior disciples of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, titled The Golden Path.   more »

View Article  April 23 and 24, 2005 - Debashish Banerji at Arcosanti
On April 23 and 24, 2005, Debashish Banerji of the Sri Aurobindo Center of Los Angeles offered a presentation on "Visions of Future Societies" and engaged in a dialog on "An Improved Tomorrow" with Paolo Soleri at Arcosanti, the future-oriented community combining architecture and ecology started by architect-philosopher Paolo Soleri. The talk was a prelude to the dialog, where Paolo Soleri's atheistic conscious evolutionism was engaged counteractively with the interventionist evolutionism of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.   more »

On May 1, 2005, the Center celebrated its 52nd birthday with a concert of Indian Classical music performed by slide guitar (mohan Veena) maestro, Pandit Viswa Mohan Bhatt. Pandit Bhatt was accompanied on tabla by Shri Subhen Chatterjee, lomg-time friend of the Center.   more »

For the second Sunday of February, we went for a walk to the Escondido Canyon in the Santa Monica mountains. The walk was led by Komal Rao. The other participants were Seetarama, Debashish, Sangi and Lalita. Sangi took the photos.   more »
View Article  November 20, 2005 - Siddhi Day darshan gathering
On November 20, 2005, we observed the Siddhi day of Sri Aurobindo with readings, chanting, singing and meditation. An altar was set up for the occassion and a deep peace and intense consciousness descended during the meeting.   more »

Jerry Schwartz, treasurer of the oundation for World Education (FWE) visited the Sri Aurobindo Center of Los Angeles on May 1 and 2, 2004 to offer a workshop on Money and Spirituality. Jerry's intuiotive insights into money as a form of energy and consciousness opened up a new direction of yoga as outlined by Sri Aurobindo in Chapter IV of The Mother.   more »

Mira Nakashima, daughter of George Nakashima, Japanese-American woodworker and on-site architect for Golconde, visited the Sri Aurobindo Center of Los Angeles on September 14, 2004. During this visit, She shared her reminiscences of her father through a slide show and DVD presentation and also presented a delightful western classical flute performance along with Anie Nunnally on piano.   more »

February 2005: Contours of Modernity was an exhibition of contemporay Indian Art curated by Debashish Banerji and Nalini Rao and held at the Founder's Hall of SOKA University in Aliso Viejo, CA. from Feb.1- April 1 2005. The exhibition featured works from the 1970's to the present by twenty leading artists from India and of Indian origin. The first of its kind in Southern California, the artists whose works were displayed here included celebrated founders of modern Indian art younger leading contemporaries and diasporic artists.   more »

View Article  Chihuly's Glass Sculpture
Dale Chihuly is among the most famous of contemporary sculptors, who has transformed the medium of glass into a major art form. An exhibition of Chihuly's sculpture was held at the Pepperdine University and we went as a group to view in in February 2005. The exhibition showcased a number of series of Chihuly's works made by him through the years. Sangi took the photographs.   more »
