After the Flip by Richard Carlson

After the Flip,…

by Richard Carlson

streaming algorithmic apparitions in a binary Elysium
perish in the effluvium of magnetic oblation,
escaping the tyranny of genetic memories
for surrender to a cybernetic switch

a prosthesis hollowed out in digital extracts,
thought trace vehicle etched in silicon,
sentient form vanishing in a carbon dusk,
archiving an incarnation of deciphered flesh;

in a frictionless destining of species
zero/one essences reconfigure the sinews
for desiring at the speed of light,
consecrates virtuality under cosmic erasure

stratus shrouds rising in a crepuscular dawn
motes of dust shedding corpuscular existence
fractal forms whose dissipating alphabet
are the cinders of dreams before apprehension stirs

before a soul awoke in a mantle urn,
to churn molten rock, sculpt magma into obsidian blade,
contracts spasms in cytoplasm of orb, fires tapas in a diamond coil
before the flip a metamorphosis of matter, ether, spirit,

but here the alchemy of anatomy edges its tropism
along the ph-gradient of a proto-cell, to spark electricity in ether,
flex mind across a firmament of code, weightlessly now Cogito,
bends toward counterfeit territories to house its disapearance
